Biography

Micah Smith is an Assistant United States Attorney and Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Hawaii. Micah also serves as a Board Member of the Hawaii Justice Foundation and as a Member of the Hawaii State Bar Association’s Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services to the Public.

From 2012 until his transfer to the District of Hawaii in 2018, Micah was an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where he served in a variety of positions, including as Acting Deputy Chief of Appeals and as Co-Chief of the Violent and Organized Crime Unit.

Prior to 2012, Micah was counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, in Washington, D.C., and served as a law clerk to the Honorable David H. Souter of the Supreme Court of the United States and the Honorable Guido Calabresi of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Micah received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2006 and his B.A. from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2003. He is a class of 1999 graduate of Kauai High School.
