MLPC-HI Partners on Oceans of Peace Micronesian Art Exhibition on Maui

On December 5, 2025 the Medical-Legal Partnership for Children in Hawaii (MLPC-HI) team traveled to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Kahului, Maui for the opening of Oceans of Peace, an exhibit of contemporary Micronesian artists including MLPC-HI staff, Carol Ann Carl.

MLPC-HI partners on this exhibition as part of its Owning the Narrative (ON) project which employs Micronesian culture-based storytelling strategies alongside the Oceans of Reflection Traveling Mural, featured in the exhibit to plant seeds of transformative justice through story-sharing as a means of community-brokered data, policy, and governance.

During their visit to Kahului, Maui, the MLPC-HI staff met with Hi‘ilei Casco (’23), staff attorney for PONO Legal, a non-profit providing free legal services to community members impacted by the Maui wildfires.
