Richardson Law names Troy J.H. Andrade ‘11 as the new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

The William S. Richardson School of Law is pleased to name Troy J.H. Andrade ‘11 as the new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Troy officially joined the law school’s faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2016, where he was also appointed as the Director of the Ulu Lehua Scholars Program—an initiative that increases access to legal education in Hawaiʻi.

A proud Richardson alumnus, Troy has taught numerous courses since joining the law school, including Torts, Legal History of Hawaiʻi, and other legal writing courses. Additionally, for the past several years he has chaired the curriculum committee, overseeing and guiding the implementation of curricular changes to better support student learning. Last year, Troy served as Director of Faculty Development, where he helped guide the adoption of a faculty handbook, organized a Teaching Tuesday series, and led the creation of a new five-year strategic plan for the law school.

Troy assumes the role of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, a position previously held by Nicholas A. Mirkay, who held the title from 2021 until this year. “I can’t thank Dean Mirkay enough for the foundation he has set for the law school and for his assistance in my transition into this role,” Troy shared.

Envisioning his new role, Troy shared that he will be working alongside faculty and staff to implement the program of legal education, to promote faculty excellence and to support student success in the classroom. “I am so fortunate to work alongside amazing colleagues who care deeply about our students and thankful to support our extraordinary students that are passionate about being part of the Richardson legacy. I am excited to help the law school in this new role where I can continue to foster a community of collaboration and excellence.”

Congratulations to Associate Dean Andrade!
